Backend Engineer

About the Role

We're building the backend infrastructure for PulseKaki, a voice-first social platform. As a Backend Engineer, you'll design and build scalable APIs, manage real-time data processing, and ensure our systems can handle millions of voice interactions. You'll work with modern cloud technologies and collaborate closely with our frontend and AI teams.

In this role, you'll own the design and implementation of critical backend systems that power the PulseKaki experience. You'll work on challenges like managing real-time voice streams, processing user interactions at scale, and maintaining system reliability and performance as we grow.

What You'll Do

• •Design and implement RESTful and real-time APIs using Node.js, Python, or Go
• •Build scalable microservices architecture for handling millions of voice interactions
• •Optimize database queries and implement intelligent caching strategies using Redis or similar
• •Implement security best practices including authentication, authorization, and data encryption
• •Monitor system performance using observability tools and troubleshoot production issues
• •Collaborate with frontend and AI teams on feature implementation and API contracts
• •Write comprehensive tests and documentation for APIs and services

What You Bring

• •3+ years of professional backend development experience
• •Strong proficiency in at least one server-side language (Node.js, Python, Go, or similar)
• •Solid experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational databases (MongoDB, etc.)
• •Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• •Understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful API design principles
• •Strong problem-solving mindset, attention to code quality, and test-driven development
• •Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code is a plus
